Self-Aligning Ball Bearings have two rows of balls which locate in a sphered outer ring. The bearing will permit angular misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing. It is particularly suitable for applications where considerable shaft deflection or misalignment are expected.

The basic design has a cylindrical bore but in certain size ranges this bearing is available with a taper bore, commonly used in conjunction with an adaptor sleeve. This bearing provides low friction which enables it to run cooler even at high speeds.

Size 80mm x 170mm x 58mm.

The two-row self-aligning ball bearing is an invention of SKF. This bearing has two rows of balls and a common spherical raceway in the outer ring. As a result, the bearing can adjust itself and is insensitive to misalignments with respect to the bearing housing. This bearing is particularly suitable for bearing constructions where considerable axle deflections or alignment errors have to be taken into account. Another advantage of self-aligning ball bearings is that they have the lowest friction of all rolling bearings, so that this lower generates less frictional heat even at higher speeds.
